Между прочим, в 1918 году, во Фландрии, майор Саммерфорд несколько раз во сне видел березу. Он рассказал жене так: «Я брел по березовому лесу в ужасающей, давящей на мозг тишине. Не было слышно ни звука, даже моих шагов. Но страшнее всего мне было от того, что стоило мне только посмотреть на какую-либо березу, как беззвучно, медленно она переламывалась прямо посередине и падала. Я хотел побежать, но ноги мне не подчинялись. Я споткнулся и попытался удержаться, обхватив ближайшее дерево, но от моего прикосновения береза стала падать, выворачивая все свои корни» .
Еще несколько раз повторялся подобный сон и вскоре бравый офицер получил ранение от удара молнии, сбросившей его с лошади. Нижнюю часть его тела после этого парализовало. Можно представить, каково было потрясение этого человека, когда, уехав в Ванкувер, подавший в отставку и занявшийся рыбалкой, майор в 1924 году снова видит подобный сон. Не помогли никакие предосторожности, на рыбалке он снова попадает в грозу. Конечно, и в данном случае не обошлось без молнии. На этот раз у майора парализовало правую половину тела. Об этих загадочных невероятностях сообщил журнал «Фейт» (1952 г.), взявший интервью у супруги к тому времени уже покойного майора.
